Timber Trail Elementary

Our mission and vision at Timber Trail is to provide our students with the education, skills, and resources they will need to be happy, curious, and engaged life-long learners. In addition, we look at educating the whole child, hence our motto “Timber Trail, Where Hearts and Minds Connect”. We truly believe and live this mission every day. 


  • Recipient of the John Irwin Award from the Colorado Department of Education for academic excellence and the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award for growth.   

  • Ranked as one of the top 100 elementary schools in Colorado by Schooldigger.


  • Project Based Learning in social studies and science, giving students the opportunity to apply and use the concepts they are currently studying to solve authentic, real-world problems that are relevant to them.


  • Thinking Maps and Write from the Beginning curriculum.


  • In Focus social and emotional learning curriculum teaches students how to recognize and manage different emotions, practice resiliency in a variety of situations, and gain an understanding of how our actions impact others. 


  • Pack PRIDE: a school wide movement and program to build community by showing Politeness, Responsibility, Integrity, Determination and Empathy

  • Longevity of staff; certified staff has been at TTE for an average of 9 years.


  • With the help of our parent community, our students have raised over $40,000 each year for the past six years.  Funds were used to purchase iPads, chromebooks, literacy materials, build a MakerSpace, and provide professional development opportunities for staff. 


  • Enrichment opportunities include Spanish, Art Club, Choir, KidStage, Scratch Coding Club, Battle of the Books, Mad Science, and Timber Team. 


  • A Balanced Literacy Program designed to meet the differentiated needs of all students through guided reading, book clubs, anchor texts, and 1:1 conferring with all students. 


  • TTE’s Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) program has been accredited by the Council of Accreditation.


  • 1:1 technology utilizing Chromebooks and iPads


  • Opportunities for all students to participate in philanthropic programs throughout the year.


  • Three staff members have received Douglas County School District’s prestigious Apple Award, given yearly to recognize the district’s outstanding teacher and administrator.
