Literacy Footprints

For our guided reading instruction, we use a program called "Literacy Footprints."  This program provides kiddos with daily reading instruction in small groups where we focus on building vocabulary and sight words, reading fluency, and developing a passion for reading.  It focuses on all of the components of reading instruction and provides time for practice, feedback, and comprehension building.

FUNdations

FUNdations is a multisensory, structured language program.  It provides research-based materials and strategies essential to a comprehensive reading, spelling, and handwriting program.  The program lays the foundation or life- ling literacy.

More specifically,  the program focuses on:

* Phonemic awareness
* Phonics/word study
* High-Frequency word study
* Reading Fluency
* Vocabulary
* Comprehension Strategies
* Handwriting
* Spelling

Write From The Beginning

Write From the Beginning is a wonderful program used for writing in all grades at TTE.  This program works hand in hand and side by side with Thinking Maps.  Through the year, kiddos will use Thinking Maps that accompany the Narrative, Ex/Informative, and Opinion genres of writing.  We always say "if I can think it I can say it and if I can say it I can write it!"

ENvision

We use enVision® Mathematics daily in our classroom.  It combines problem-based learning and visual learning to deepen students' conceptual understanding.  This program supports student learning in print, digital, and blended classrooms.

Thinking Maps

The human brain is able to organize its thinking in 8 different ways.  Thinking Maps are an excellent tool to help students show their thought process through different "Thinking Maps".  We will work on one type of map each week until we have been exposed to all of the different maps, and then we will use all the maps where they can be applied.  The great thing about Thinking Maps is that they can be used for EVERY subject and even with organizational help as well!  Examples of the different maps will be updated as we review and learn them each week.

SEL

Now more than ever, it is critical that our children are feeling physically and socially safe.  They need to learn and know how to handle a variety of situations that evoke emotion.  We work with the In Focus program which emphasizes the structure and function of the different parts of the brain.  Your child will learn ways to communicate feelings (positive, negative and everything in between.). Your child will also learn several calm down strategies that will help them in all situations of life at school, home, and in the community. We will also spend the year learning about and practicing having a growth mindset!
