Birthday Celebration Policy

Healthy Student Birthday Celebrations:

In conjunction with our healthy school initiative, we want to share our policy on student birthday celebrations.  We have heard from many parents about their concerns with the number of unhealthy treats their child consumed at school.  In order to support our TTE families’ healthy lifestyles, we are taking the focus away from food and putting it back on the student.

The sharing of birthday treats, including food and small gifts, is a tradition best suited to be shared with family and friends outside of school.  We also ask that parents not send or drop off balloons, flowers or gifts for their child. While these items will no longer be a part of celebrations at TTE, each teacher will decide how to recognize and celebrate their students’ birthdays.  In addition, each birthday student will be invited to the office to pick a birthday pencil and have their picture taken while sitting at the principal’s desk.
We invite parents to have lunch with their child in Town Square on or near their birthday. The student may have one friend join them. Or parents can take their child out to lunch.
